Guernsey: Forest

The southern parish of Forest is well known for its steep cliffs and there is a good network of paths for walkers. Petit Bot (which is the only beach in the parish) can be reached by a series of steep steps. The only othe approach to the beach is by water. Petit Bot is widely considered to be one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe. The parish of Forest is best known for its German Occupation museum situated behind the parish Church. A visit to this museum, a poignant monument to one of the darker periods in the island’s history, should not be rushed. Besides the moving life-size street and bunker rooms, there is a visual tableaux of island life during the occupation, all of which has been created in the best possible taste.
